Tomorrow, we learn to use APIs in R beginning with MapQuest’s Open Geocoding API. Like most other APIs, Mapquest’s requires you to have a developer account and a project key. Please have both of these ready to go before the lesson so we can start working quickly. Below are the directions for getting a Mapquest account and key:
- Go to developer.mapquest.com
- Click on Get your Free API Key
- Fill out the form and click Sign Me Up
- Click Create a New Key
- Type whatever you want into App Name. Leave Callback URL blank
- Click Create Key
- Once you’ve created a key, you will see it listed under Manage Keys
